Description

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Field Project Manager to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will work with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are effectively executed within contractual scope, budgeted cost, and time schedules. As a Field Project Manager, you will be a part of a dynamic team that allows you to grow as Convergint grows.

What You'll Do With Our Training and Your Experience

  • Project Management: Oversee the overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field. This includes mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues, as well as assigning and directing work.
  • Hiring & Performance Management: Recruit and hire Project Specialists and Installers and manage their performance.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Direct on-site activities and verify quality assurance standards.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with the Project Coordinator to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects, suggest scope changes, and identify ways to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and assist in developing strategies to minimize impact.
  • Quality Control: Ensure overall quality of installation per national and local codes and company standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
  • Customer Support & Training: Provide technical support and training to customers, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

What You'll Need

  • Customer Focus: Ability to work under pressure, meeting customer needs proactively.
  • Supervision & Installation Expertise: Strong supervision skills with experience in building automation, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong field supervision skills with proven ability to troubleshoot and find solutions.
  • Self-Motivation: Must be a self-starter and work well independently.
  • Technical Aptitude:
    • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (experience with hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, and crimpers).
    • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
    • Advanced math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
  • Travel & Licensing:
    • Frequent job site visits are required.
    • Minimal overnight travel required.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organization & Multi-Tasking: Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Computer Proficiency: Highly proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Requirements

  • Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician).

Preferred Experience (Not Required)

  • Associate degree in Electronics.
  • Experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation industries.
