Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, and results-driven Fire Alarm Technician to become a part of our incredible culture. In this position, you will be responsible for installing, programming, conducting system start-up and testing, commissioning, and providing customer training. You will also handle all necessary project documentation, including those for more complex assignments. What You’ll Do:

- Install, program, test, repair, and service various systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation, with guidance as needed. Serve as the main point of contact for technical support and training, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine the appropriate installation procedures. Assistance may be required for more complex specifications.
- Utilize knowledge of electronics to interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams while diagnosing and resolving equipment issues using standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Possess a working understanding of building, mechanical, sprinkler, and fire codes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced colleagues, fostering a learning environment.
- Operate systems to showcase equipment functionality, commission new systems, analyze performance, and troubleshoot malfunctions. Develop routine system programs.
- Serve as the customer’s preferred service provider, ensuring Convergint remains their first choice for service and support.
- Collaborate with engineering personnel to troubleshoot unique system challenges related to operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
- Offer insights to management on customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, and potential product enhancements.
- Execute technical aspects of various projects, including programming, graphics development, system start-up, certification testing, customer training, documentation, and ongoing technical support.
- Identify project risks, communicate them to relevant parties, and assist in developing strategies to minimize impact, maintaining cost and timeline control.
- Work alongside the Fire Alarm Designer to ensure systems meet all applicable codes and standards.
- Partner with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager to oversee project coordination, assess quality, suggest scope improvements, and identify ways to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What You’ll Need
- Outstanding customer focus and ability to work under pressure, always prioritizing customer needs.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a non-technical audience.
- Willingness to expand technical knowledge related to fire alarm systems and electronic security systems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong understanding of electronics, including Ohm’s law, resistor color codes, and relay logic for controlling third-party equipment.
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical tasks, including working with hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, hacksaws, and crimpers.
- Experience with programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems of moderate complexity.
- Drive to obtain necessary certifications and licensing related to products, industry, and regional requirements.
- Desire to mentor and support the growth of less experienced colleagues.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
- Low voltage electrical license, as mandated by local or state authorities.
- Ability to regularly travel to job sites, with minimal overnight travel required.

Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 3-5 years in relevant field service.
